Fans are complaining about the last couple of offers to Blake Thomas and Tyvus Powell. You know I will speak my mind even when I know fans do not want to hear it. If these were reaches I would say so. The Buckeyes got the best receiving tight end in Ohio. No doubt about that. I consider Thomas to be a steal. He is such a nice athlete that St.Ignatius splits him out at times. Soft hands. Very good athlete. Very willing and technically sound blocker. In the St. Ignatius offense he is going to come in here better prepared than most high school kids as St. Ignatius plays a pro-style offense. You will not find kids with a higher level of competition that St. Ignatius players. We are looking for all the high character kids we can find. Across the board you will find high character kids coming out of St. Ignatius. If he were bigger I feel confident Blake Thomas would have been a national kid.
Tyvis Powell is a great get. Yes, I am saying get. He has not made it official but he will be a Buckeye. I have been beating the drum for the Buckeyes to come home and get into the mix with some of the instate safeties. The pecking order has been undergoing a makeover but the talent level has not changed. Just last Sunday I was talking about Powell blowing up. I do not see the talk about Powell at corner. Even back in the old bump and run days where defenders could all but mug receivers as long as the ball was not in the air I never saw a 6-4 corner. Steeler Hall of Famer Mel Blount was about 6-3 and the best corner nobody remembers, Mike Haynes from the Patriots, also a Hall of Famer, was in the 6-3 range. Powell can play free safety, he shows those kinds of ball skills, but he is such a great tackler and reader of the game that I think his future is at strong safety. Great player. Great get for the Buckeyes. Now of we would just come home and offer Jarrod Wilson. I think Powell makes the odds of Bam Bradley getting offer to be remote now.

It seems everybody is finding something wrong with Dwayne Stanford. I just saw someone pick his game apart in the Bucknuts Boarding House. Everything that was pointed out can be fixed. He can't run routes. How many high school receivers can? All the things that were pointed out as bad were there in his video. It did not keep him from getting offers from some of the top programs in the country. The things he can do are things that can't be taught. Someone is going to focus on the things he can do right and get a great receiver. It is appearing more and more like that school will not be Ohio State. Lets hope Stanford does not take Adolphus Washington with him. I would be alot less worried if not for the sanctions coming our way.

Speaking of sanctions coming our way, many believe Jim Tressel will not survive it so there is so much speculation about who might be the next head coach.
The conversations about Urban Meyer coaching the Buckeyes and now Tony Dungy show how much Buckeye Nation is dreaming about the future. Not thinking about the future. Dreaming. Meyer retired two years in a row. Why can we not accept that the mans health is not going to allow him to be a head coach at this level again, at least in the near future and likely permanently. Fans need to accept that he is at least out of coaching in the time frame that the Ohio State situation is working in. Tony Dungy as the next coach is just sheer folly. A coach who has had some years off, is not showing any interest in the pro game as far as being a coach again is concerned, is going to come to the college game? At his age? Makes no sense.
