Jim Tressel is gone. A really good man, the kind of man you want at the head of your program and coaching your son, is out. There is so much discussion of the whys and whatfors. If that provides you comfort then go for it. I am left just wanting to say it has been great being a Buckeye fan the last ten years. Thanks, coach.

Should Jim Tressel be the only one to lose his job over this mess? I don't know about you but as far as I'm concerned I am going to be more than a little angry if he is. I don't know about Gene Smith. My knee jerk reaction was he needed to go. If he didn't know, he should have known. There is no evidence that he did know. We all remember the gotcha moment at the press conference when the question was asked as to whether Gene Smith knew. The evidence says it was not a gotcha moment. On further reflection I am not so sure he needs to go.

Compliance, on the other hand, needs to be completely purged. I would like to ask the head of the department two questions. What is your job? What were you doing other than your job while this mess was going on? Former Buckeye linebacker Jerry Rudzinski praised the compliance department from his era. Can we rehire the people who manned the office when he was a Buckeye? This lot let the inmates run the asylum. Forget about punishing them for what has happened. We need to get people in there who will make absolutely sure this does not happen again.

Should Terrelle Pryor lose his job? There is so much talk about the possibility of him playing here again. The consensus seems to be that is remote. I hear there may be more coming out on him that will cause a year long suspension. The local news media is circling like vultures. The focus seems to be on the issue of the cars. Follow the money. His mother says she bought the car for him. That is where this one will be made or become a waste of time. Someone will find out his moms job, then her salary, then her expenses. She has a car of her own too. If she can afford all of that then this goes away. If she can't we are likely to have seen the last of Terrelle Pryor. Maybe there is something else out there that will end his days as a Buckeye early. Maybe Pryor will realize he has worn out his welcome here. There is at least one report that he has met with at least one agent and is looking at the supplemental draft which I believe will occur in August.

I want Pryor gone. I want this entire incident to be in the rear window as soon as possible. I don't think he should be gone. Not unless the others are gone too. There has been a singular focus on Pryor. Remember, it was the Tattoo Five not the Tattoo One. He is the quarterback. He has always managed to be the center of attention. You might say just suspend them all if I bring up Boom Herron or Solomon Thomas. Are you ready to be done with Devier Posey and Mike Adams? Not if you want to win games this fall. We have not seen a receiver who is ready to step into the role of a go to guy. There is no other natural left tackle on the roster than Mike Adams. If nothing more comes out on Pryor he should serve the same suspension as the rest of the Tattoo Five.

Of course, coach Fickell is under no obligation to play Pryor let alone start him should he return. Maybe that should be relayed to Pryor before the supplemental draft.
