30. Montanez Madaris, WR, 6-2, 180, Moeller
Long and lean with outstanding athleticism. Madaris is explosive and is so quick for a player as long as he is. He is outstanding at the long handoffs and the slip screens. Those are plays usually reserved for smaller quicker players. Madaris runs like a smaller quicker player. Very elusive after the catch. He is a very willing blocker. He was one of the best players at the Florida State camp and earned an offer from Florida State. I thought Madaris was going to be a Buckeye offer but the staff chose Roger Lewis. Madaris does have offers from a couple of other Big Five schools in the Nebraska and Michigan. Boston College is in with an offer too. I have not heard anything about who Madaris might favor of the schools on his list but Boston College does extremely well with the Cincinnati Catholic schools.
31. A.J. Williams, 6-5, 270, OL/TE, Cincinnati Sycamore
This is a player I think we will look back on and wonder why more Big Five schools did not get involved. He has been a high school tight end but it looks like he will be a tackle this year. Whether that happens or not Williams will be a tackle in college. I think he is going to be a good one. He has the frame, the length and the great feet. This is the kind of player Michigan needs to rebuild its offensive line.
32. Luke Roberts, LB, 6-2, 225, Lancaster
One of those players that seemed to come out of nowhere to earn an offer. He impressed the Ohio State coaches and earned an offer. I never was comfortable with his film. I remember telling Mark Porter back when I saw his film that if Roberts really moved like he does on the film someone is going to get a steal. It looks like he really does run that well. Linebacker was not a real need in this class for Ohio State. The staff backed off some national players and did not go looking for more linebackers to recruit when others committed elsewhere. That speaks volumes about how impressive Roberts was at camp.
33. Roger Lewis, WR, 6-2, 200, Pickerington Central
This is the point where I look back and see how deep this class is in Ohio. That a player as good as Roger Lewis is outside the top 20. Lewis was flying under the radar until he lit up the Ohio State camp. There were some good corners at camp but Lewis was uncoverable. He was getting a clean release from the line of scrimmage, such an underrated skill, and catching everything thrown his way. He topped off the package with a reported 4.42 forty. At his size that is smoking. Outstanding after the catch. Excellent punt returner. Lewis is another member of a recruiting class that will not be ranked highly because of so many under the radar recruits but this class will keep the talent level high at Ohio State
34. James Sanford, Ath, 6-2, 200, Xenia
James Sanford is a cautionary tale for all those kids out there who want to play big time college football but are not hitting the books as hard as they are hitting the weightroom. James Sanford would likely have at least one Big Five offer, Ohio State, if he had taken care of things in the classroom. He is such a smooth athlete that he looks like he is not working hard. He might be a receiver for some but I like his physical style of play in the secondary. I see a safety but Sanford has such great feet I could see him getting a look at corner.
35. LaKeith Walls, Ath, 6-4, 210, Cleveland Rhodes
Walls is one of those players I would take and not worry about his position. He is such a great looking athlete. One of the best pure athletes in the class of 2012. He is a high school running back, a very good one, and a linebacker. I think he could be a great linebacker in college. He is going to get a good deal bigger, maybe ending up with his hand on the ground but I would project him as a linebacker. Walls runs extremely well, plays well in space and is comfortable in coverage. That is a formula for an elite linebacker prospect in todays game.
36. Blake Thomas, TE, 6-4, 235, St. Ignatius
The best receiving tight end in the state. Thomas is such a good receiver that St. Ignatius splits him out. So natural on the ball. Great hands. He will come into Ohio State with a familiarity with a big time passing offense. Chuck Kyle is the best passing game coach in the state. He coaches a pro style offense so his players come out better prepared for the college game. Thomas does not have the great size but he is a willing and tenacious blocker.
37. Eric Williams, QB, 6-3, 200, Cleveland St. Ignatius
His offer list has everything to do with his transfer. Eric Williams is the best quarterback in a much underrated class. There is some lack of respect for his level of competition in Oregon. Wait until he does the same thing at St. Ignatius. He has impressive tools. Good arm strength. He has a long motion but gets rid of it pretty quickly. He is a nice looking athlete. He can make plays with his feet. I expect to hear alot about him by the time the season is over.
38. Mike Roberts, TE/DE, 6-5, 235, Benedictine
The best all-around tight end in Ohio. Sam Grant is as good a blocker if not better. Blake Thomas is a better receiver. Nobody brings the complete package than Roberts. His has been a strange recruitment. His film got out late then he disappeared. If he went to any camps or combines I am unaware of it. I am now starting to see MAC offers come in but Roberts is a Big Five tight end. He is also an impressive defensive end. Someone will steal a great player here.
39. Tyler O’Connor, QB, 6-4, 205, Lima Central Catholic
A quarterback with some very impressive all-around skills. Nice physical tools, good arm strength and O'Connor has nice size. Mechanics are sound. What stands out to me is O'Connor is so well schooled. He makes sound decisions. He reads the game so well. I see former Iowa quarterback Rick Stanzi in O'Connor physically but I think O'Connor is so much further along in his development than Stanzi. Michigan State comes into the state and grabs another really good quarterback.
