We are all still suffering from the Wisconsin loss hangover. We are still talking about it. The off week does not help. The lack of a game to distract us from our misery is not there this week. We felt like we were going to win the national championship. I know I did. I still think that this team at its best is one of the two or three best teams in the country. I have some sobering news for you. I think it will help you come to terms with the loss. We are not at our best and we are not going to be.
We weren't going to make it, Buckeye fans. We were going to lose a game. We are too beat up to win a national championship. Losing early puts us in position to finish the season with a better bowl by winning out. We move back up the rankings and put ourselves into a position to play in a BCS game against an opponent that we can beat. We were not going to beat an
Alabama or an Auburn in the championship game. Not this beat up. No, we would not beat them. I am not sure about Oregon. Pac-10 defense is really a joke. We can beat anyone else out there with what we have. Did you know that right now we are looking at any injury in the secondary other than bench corner (Devon Torrence) will mean the starter will be no better than our third team guy, who would be backed up by a player who was going to redshirt, or a walk-on. If Hines goes down at the Star we are looking at Nate Oliver or a walk-on as the starter because it looks like now that Christian Bryant is out for the year. You can't win a national championship with this current line-up on defense. We saw our free safety get eaten alive by Minnesota, the worst team in the Big Ten right now. Winning out sets the stage for a great start to next year when we will bring back the most loaded and veteran offense in memory. Look at the number of players who have been two year starters who will be back. Look at the number of players coming back who were in the two-deep for three years. On defense we will see the deepest and most talented line in the country. We should not miss a beat at linebacker. The schedule is not as inviting with away games at Miami, Penn State and Michigan but all that does is make us look that much stronger with wins at their joints.
Look at where we were to start this year because we won out last year. It all starts with winning out this year. If we were going to lose, it was better to lose early.
