Top 5 unoffered players
Written by Duane Long

Looking around the state at this collection of talent makes this a lot of fun for guys like me and Mark Porter. Last year we really got bored. It was over so early. We did not see anyone but Verlon Reed and Dominique Woods come on during the year. We were on to 2011 and never looked back by about June. This year is so different. We continue to come across players ever at this relatively late date. i had not seen Gambrell until after he was offered. I can see this class pushing into the 30's before we start seeing three-star players.

I like to do this every year but last year did not affored me the opportunity because the class was so limited. This is a list of players I have seen that I would love to see the Buckeyes offer.

1 - Cardale Jones, QB, Glenville. I think we will see an offer to him as I believe the staff is going to take two quarterbacks but they had two offers out before they ever heard about Jones. I am no longer so optimistic that we have a good shot at Randall. He did not even mention Ohio State in his latest interview but did show a willingness to get far away from home as Oregon looks like his favorite.

2 - Roger Williamson, DB/WR, Dayton Dunbar. This is the mystery DB I have been alluding to. I have seen a much longer video that you have not been able to access yet. He is a special talent. I think there is reason to argue he isat least the #2 receiver in the class but I would play him on defense, and he is the best in the class. I know Mark is very high on him too.

3 - Devin Smith, WR, Massillon. Love his suddeness. If he is even he is leaving. I don't know if the Buckeyes have room for more than two receivers and it is likely we land both Evan Spencer and Shane Wynn, plus there are a couple of offers out there to national kids in Florida and Michigan, the kind of players you don't say no to, so you wait on them.

4 - Austin Traylor, Athlete, Walnut Ridge. Super athlete. If not for Williamson I would call him the best athlete in the class. He is going to make someone a great edge rusher when he fills out. I know we are loaded but I would take him.....unless there was a tackle out there looking our way.

5- Tony Davis DL, Cincinnati Wyoming. He is right there with Chase Farris. I think it more likely Davis stays at SSDE or slides to DT. He is a little more athletic and lighter than Farris who could end up at LT. There is no word on Davis grades. That is why we have not seen more talk about him. Once he is a qualifier his stock will soar and I hope we are in touch.

I think you missed that one by a mile. Carter at OL is a 3-star right out of the gate IMHO. And I'm not so sure Walker at OT isn't a 3-star too.

One other thing. Surely, if you look beyond the state border you can come up with 5 better prospects. So, you might consider changing the title of this blog to "Top 5 Unoffered Ohio Players."
Best in the class?

How is Williamson the best DB in a class with Doran Grant?
...

Doran Grant is great cover corner but he lacks in run stopping, physical area. Go watch a whole game and you'll see what I'm talking about. Kid tip toes to the tackle after contact is already made A LOT. So if this kid (haven't seen him myself) plays a better all around game I could see him being ranked ahead. If Grant shows more nasty watch out.

I have seen a much more extensive video than you have access to currently on Carter. I like him. On Walker, you are assuming I have him in my top 30.
