Once again we have changed servers. I waited a couple of days after the latest change to post again. How things have changed.
How long have we been talking about how spots were filling up? Now I wonder if we don't see some offers late to fill out the class. Things have changed that quickly. Several players verballed the Buckeyes. Others dropped the Buckeyes. Wayne Lyons was a safety we all coveted. He cut his large list down to a "manageable" 14. The Buckeyes did not make the cut. Another safety that it looked good with, Dondi Kirby, says the Ohio State timeline and his timeline do not match. I think there was some push on this. Kirby tore his ACL not so long ago. I think the staff forced his hand in a respectful way. I think they went at him with the idea that he needed to understand the class was filling up and he needed to make up his mind, all the while knowing that he would not want to do that, which gets them out of an offer to a kid that needs rehab before he is even ready to start the preparation to play at this level.
Ja'Juan Story committed to Florida out of the blue. I think that was a shock to most. I thought he would at least take some visits. Another Florida receiver who seemed to have the Buckeyes high on his list, Phillip Dorsett, committed to Miami. Again, this was a bit of a surprise. I don't think anyone thought that the Buckeyes had a shot at Ryan Shazier, the LB/DE from Florida, but he is off the board now as he too issued a committment to Florida. Brandon Phillips is an athlete from Maryland that I wished the Buckeyes had been more aggressive with. It would have been a waste of time. He committed to Virginia recently.
All that brings us to what is left. Aundray Walker and Shane Wynn from Glenville. Doran Grant, the super corner from Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary. A name that you may have thought would not appear under the heading of "players the Buckeyes have a good shot at" is Trey DePriest. I am not calling it but some are. The trend is to Ohio State. A prominent Alabama site is now calling it for the Buckeyes. Word is we know by the end of the month. Angelo Mangiro is going to make a decision soon. I think he decides between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions. Pennsylvania's Michael Caputo, a SS/hybrid that nobody is talking about, is another player we have to keep in mind. He really enjoyed his visit to Ohio State. He is my sleeper player. I think the Buckeyes have a really good shot and he reminds me of Tyler Moeller. Ejuan Price is a linebacker from Pennsylvania that I am very surprised does not have a better offer list. I think the Buckeyes are the team to beat.
Getting those seven players would probably fill out the class. If we do not get one or two of them we will likely see some new offers. Maybe we see Cardale Jones and Roger Williamson with late offers. That would suit me just fine.
