The Big 33 was played last night. I had no idea that it would be on the NFL Network until I stumbled across so I missed the first few minutes.

The talk of the Big 33 practices was Darryl Baldwin. I could not believe how big he had gotten. He looks like he is ready to get drafted not getting ready to step on a college field. Mark Porter has been saying left tackle for the longest time. I have always believed he was an offensive player but I thought the chances of him getting this big were not great. If you can see the great picture Gary Hosteau posted on Bucknuts make sure you take a look. The buzz is about him as a defensive player. I think if he does stay on defense it will be at DT. He is a straight line player. He goes right at his man with a bullrush. He does not have the get off to play end. He does not show the Motor City Madman that I want in a defensive player. What I saw last night is a typical Baldwin performance. What I see is D'Brickshaw Ferguson or last years NFL combine freak Bruce Campbell. That is how neat and trim this kid looks. He needs a lot of work to play on defense. He could be a fine defensive tackle. We have others who could be, who will be,  great defensive tackles. We have nobody who can be a great left tackle. Well, until last night I did not see a great left tackle on the roster.

I was very impressed with J.T. Seeing him before the game and getting reports from practices leading up to the game, his size has been greatly exaggerated. I was disappointed. Then I watched him play. Vernon Gohlston. Same muscular big body at Vern but this one plays like a maniac. I don't know if he is big enough to play the strong side. I put him weakside. I think he could be a bigber version of Thaddeus Gibson. Very excited to see him.

I don't know if Christian Bryant is going to be a great safety but I know he is going to be a great something. He could be a corner, a safety or even a wide receiver. He was the best skill athlete in the game.

Verlon Reed is a very interesting player. I would leave him at quarterback. I thought that at the end of the year and I still think that. He threw pretty well. He throws better than Guiton did coming out of high school. I have offered before that I think if he is moved he should go to receiver, not safety. He was used as a receiver in this game. I don't remember him catching a ball but the coaching staff was impressed enough with his athletic ability that they tried to incorporate him into the offense even when he was not playing quarterback.
