There is enough buzz about a Jeremy Cash verbal that you have to believe it has happened or will happen in the very near future. Will that be more than just getting a top safety prospect?
It remains to be seen. Will Cash be that vocal leader who will step up and be here as many weekends as he can to talk to every recruit looking at Ohio State? Will he be the guy asking for phone numbers to keep in touch with the other possible future Buckeyes? We think about a quarterback being that player but the most recent example was a center, Michael Brewster. Why not a safety?
As far as quarterback goes, that is the holy grail of early verbals. Players know the importance of a quarterback to winning a national championship. Getting an early verbal from a Braxton Miller, or a Jerrard Randall, or offering Cardale Jones who would surely get it over with, is the kind of early boost a program needs to get a great class going. A player like that who is a vocal leader is where we get into holy grail status. That quarterback calling others has the impact of a general rallying the troops. There are so many players who seem so close to committing. Call them and tell them that they have the opportunity to enjoy something now. To be a part of something right now. The status of a committed player is such that he is a part of the team. Those players can be a part of a national championship run right now. They don't have to wait until they sport the scarlet and gray. As pledged players they are part of the family. For all intents and purposes they part of a national championship team. There is no doubt they would be part of a national championship tradition. Instead of looking back and wondering what it was like, they would be able to remember it.
Hopefully Cash did or soon will, verbal. I decided to make one more trip around Youtube for film of Cash. I did not like the first one I saw. Too much sideline. Watching from the sideline is the best possible view. Watching film from the sideline is the worst possible view. No depth perception. I was always impressed with his offer list, one that includes Florida State, Miami and North Carolina. I ran across this video:

That is what I am talking about. Big athletic long armed kid that can run. That is what an elite safety looks like.
