I have been talking about the quarterback class for so long it is not going to be a surprise about how I have the class ranked. Cardale Jones is still my number one. He has things going for him that you can't coach. Something has changed though.

After seeing an extensive film of Braxton Miller as a junior that was extremely impressive, I am all the more certain that taking two should be a priority. I think we are seeing that the staff will take two. Until recently we were not aware that there is another quarterback offer out there. Florida dual-threat quarterback Jerrard Randall has an offer. He camped here last summer. His coach, Tim Tyrell, is a former player and a coach under Jim Tressel at Youngstown State. That there are two offers out there to quarterbacks the Buckeyes have a legitimate shot at says the staff is looking to take two. I think we can say the Buckeyes were destined to have a great quarterback class. Not only are there three bigtime kids right here in the state of Ohio, they are all at pipeline schools. Even the out of state star is at a school with a Buckeye friendly coach. We will get two out of this foursome. I think all rate a Buckeye offer.

Randall is the one Buckeye fans know the least about. I have seen just a few plays from him but they were very impressive. I am not surprised he received an early offer. He has the biggest arm of the lot. He is as good a runner as Miller, if not better. Some say he is not leaving Florida. Others say the Buckeyes have a real shot. We will know more after he stops by again this spring to take in spring practice.

Jones is starting to rack up offers. He has the attitude Buckeye fans will love. He could not care less who else is here. He is ready to come in and compete for the job. I don't think he cares when an offer comes. The Buckeyes are going to be hard to beat once we offer.

There has been so much buzz about Miller committing that it is starting to become like the boy who cried wolf. I think the Buckeyes get him. I think he is the one better prepared to step in early.

Getting any of these kids to step up and commit offers the opportunity to get the recruiting class off to a great start. Landing a name that other kids around the country have heard of, especially a quarterback, is like a beacon for other top players. Kids know the importance of a top quarterback. Coming to Ohio State, with a Braxton Miller or a Cardale Jones or a Jerrard Randall or a Cole Stoudt, tells them that they have a leg up on winning a national championship. Miller is due in soon for an unofficial. A verbal is not expected but it is not out of the question either. Hope that he does and hope that he asks for phone numbers on the way out of the door.
