I looked at players I would like to see the Buckeyes offer. Here I want to take a look at some Ohio players that I cannot believe are not getting more attention from major programs.
1 - Cole Stoudt, QB, Dublin. Cincinnati, Arizona State, Ohio U, Toledo. Are you kidding me??? Those are the only schools who think he is worth an offer? He has arm strength, great mechanics, good size and moves very very well. His level of competition is top drawer. He is Big Four caliber. I understand Ohio State has its guys. I agree with that pecking order. Penn State is loaded. They may not take a quarterback at all in this class. He does not fit what Michigan is doing up there. Where is Notre Dame? They are way short of quarterbacks.
Brian Kelly offered him at Cincinnati. Seems I recall Notre Dame having some success recruiting this school and specifically this position. I would love to sit down with an RC from a major program that has not offered him and ask why no offer.
2(tie) - Nicholas Grigsby, Trotwood-Madison. The biggest hitter in the class. Great instincts. Plenty of speed. I think he is a talent on the level of Trey DePriest. I don't know about his grades, always something you need to consider with Trotwood kids, but his size is not ideal at 6-1 205, for a Mike linebacker . That is what DePriest has on him. Grigsby has the tools to play the Will and could be a hybrid but those positions call for some cover skills, something he will have to learn. Grigsby could add enough weight to play the Mike. Not as a classic hole stuffing middle linebacker but like we are seeing with the Buckeyes and Brian Rolle.
2(tie) - Antonio Poole, Cincinnati Winton Woods. I could say the same thing about Poole that I say about Grigsby. He plays the in the box and sometimes lines up in the middle of the field for Winton Woods. No report on his grades. This kid is like a heat seeking missle. A tackling machine with great instincts and timing. Relentless. Plenty of speed.
4 - Donavon Clark, Cincinnati Finneytown. Look at the film. He does the same things Michael Bennett does. He throws people around and lights people up. Moves very well and plays with a motor. I see a Big Four player in Clark.
5 - Steven Daniels, LB, St. Edward. Have you ever even heard the name? He has a better than average offer list with Boston College, West Virginia, Indiana, Louisville, Cincinnati North Carolina State, Illinois, Kentucky and Minnesota but look at the film of this guy. If a staff has reservations about the size with Grisgby and Poole, I can understand that but there is no question about this kid. Big school schedule so there is no question about his level of competition.
