I am going to take Fridays to talk in general about sports, but mostly football and there will be Buckeye commentary in here.

This offense becomes so much more dangerous when Posey and Pryor find a repoire. Posey needs to do his part. He dropped catchable balls all game last week despite the fact that Pryor seemed to be looking for him more. I think film study is showing opponents that Pryor leans on Sanzenbacher, who has gone from 5 catches against Toledo to 3 against Illinois to 2 against Indiana. That is not the entire story. Catches is one thing. How many throws his direct is more telling. I think defenses are looking to take away Pryors favorite receiver.

There is a lengthy thread on Bucknuts about Herron getting the nod over Saine. I decided not to get involved but I will speak my mind here. JT has long believed you do not lose your starting job due to injury. I suspect another game where Saine outperforms Herron will do the trick. Saine is averaging 6 yards a carry to Herrons 3.6 and has more yards despite having 15 less carries. He has 61 more yards on 49 carries to 64 for Herron.

I am almost hoping for more field goal tries this week. Gotta get Pettrey back to being automatic. He missed two field goals last week, both pulled left. He had missed one in the previous 4 games.

We find out just how good we are up front with Wisky coming in with the conferences leading rusher, and national #4 in John Clay, and the #14 rushing offense in the country. Stopping them will make another statement about this defensive line, especially with Larimore out. The weather will play a role in this one. I like the Buckeyes more comfortably on a clear day as Wisky is not its usual tough self on the defensive side of the ball. The only teams they have held under 28 points are N. Illinois and Wofford. Gave up 31 at home and needed overtime to beat a down Fresno State team. They have allowed 123 points so far this year.

I watched the first half of the Miami Northwestern vs. Miami Central game to get a full game look at Teddy Bridgewater. It was an unwatchable game because of penalties. On at least every other play there was a penalty. I say at LEAST every other play. I saw another level of speed across the board on both sides of the ball between penalties. Glenville would beat either team because they have almost as much speed and talent but are more disciplined. That is how bad it was. A school that probably wins a state title in the last 5 years here in Ohio if not for penalties, would win because of it would be the more disciplined team against either Northwestern or Central. Bridgewater did not get a chance to show his throwing much because he was running for his life while I was watching. He is a special athlete though.

The poor play in the high school game allowed me to watch Ndamukong Suh, the Nebraska DT play for the first time. I thought Oklahomas Gerald McCoy was a special talent. Suh is even better. There are as many DTs taken at the top of the draft who have been busts that it rivals that of quarterback busts. So often it is about motor. Neither of these players will bust out due to lack of effort. I have not seen Arthur Jones from Syracuse but hear he is a rock at point of attack. Terrence Cody from Alabama is what everyone is looking for a nose tackle. If Marvin Austin, a junior from North Carolina comes out, it will be a DT class for the ages.

One DE I want to mention. Anyone remember we recruited a DE out of Florida for awhile named Willie Young? He was one of the best kids I ever had the pleasure to speak to. If he had the grades he would have been a Buckeye. He is being looked at as a possible first rounder out of NC State.

There is no doubt the Browns are not as talented without Braylon Edwards but they might be a better team without him. Mohamed Massaquoi catches everything thrown his way and plays hard. I don't think Edwards does. His long term case of the dropsies is about lack of concentration. He is as phsycially gifted as any receiver in the league. Dropping as many balls as he does every year is just flat out unprofessional.

Cincinnati Bengals vs the Baltimore Ravens is a feature game this weekend. Who woulda thunk it. I am especially impressed with the offensive line play. I saw them preseason versus the Patriots and they go hammered.

Michael "Kanye" Crabtree, a punk on another level, got dissed badly by a legend. Jim Brown called him out publicly last week. That had to be humbling. I see he signed a few days after.

I understand Ray Lewis frustration with the protection the NFL gives quarterbacks but they are so important to the game. Quarterbacks sell tickets. I think there is a happy medium in there somewhere. You can't get them beat up but you can't let protecting them change the game like it did in the Ravens-Patriots game.
