Michigan game preview

This is a trap game, Buckeye fans.We are going to the Rose Bowl. Nothing can change that. We are coming off two huge wins, beating Penn State to put ourselves in position to play Iowa for the Rose Bowl, then a tense overtime win over the Hawkeyes to secure the berth in the GrandDaddy of them all. Michigan has everything to gain, maybe even saving their coaches job. Talk about going into the offseason on a high. A win makes this season far less bitter for the Wolverines. We are going into their house.

We have to run the ball well. I don't like any of our tackles against Brandon Graham. This is going to be a loaded NFL draft for defensive ends. If it isn't the best ever it certainly belongs in the discussion for the best ever. If Graham had better measurables he would probably be at the top of the list. Great player. Explosive off the snap. The play him on the strong side but they do move him around. We especially have to run the ball well early to keep him honest. I keep hearing about their offense. I think we crush them. If their starting back is in there, he is not going to be 100%. Forcier is being held together by duct tape and bailing wire. I actually think they are going backward.

They are going to come out pumped. We are going to get their best shot early. We need to slow them down and steady the game. Let their adrenaline drain off. Attack, attack, attack on defense. Get field position and score, then put the hammer down when they realize they cannot beat us.

After watching the Buckeye basketball team against North Carolina I am more convinced that we are not going to be a good basketball team this year. North Carolina is NBA huge on the front line. We have what amounts to four guards on the floor. It is our best lineup. Fans are complaining about Turner at the point. Matta is attempting to get as many good shooters and athletes on the floor as he can. Adding a point guard takes scoring off the floor. We are really hurting in the paint. We have one Big Ten caliber big, Dallas Lauderdale, and that is only on the defensive side. He is not as good a defensive player as he could be because he takes dumb fouls. Where is Kecman, or whatever his name is? The dropoff from Lauderdale to Madsen is considerable. The dropoff to the next reach, they him Z, I don't know his name, is really steep. There are two flaws in Mattas recruiting. One, he says, I need a guy for this spot. It seems like he doesn't consider whether the kid is Buckeye caliber. He just takes whoever is the best kid out there to fill the role. Madsens best offer was Vandy. After a year is Ohio State caliber? The other problem is his love of the "European" big men. They don't like the paint. We need some size. Koufos was never a big. The way this Kecman is described he sounds like the same kind of player. We need bigs. He decided to pass on Raymar Morgan. Could we use a guy like that or what? Help is coming. It will be a year too late.

Duane: Even with the #1 recruiting class, Matta did not bring in the "bigs". Sullinger is 6'9 at most and Thomas and Weatherspoon are 6'7 on a good day.
We needed Payne and some of the other 6'9 or 6"10 guys like the kid out of Cinci. In order to win the NCAA you need lots of presence in the paint.

I thought the Iowa game was the trap game. Just had to beat a supposedly injury depleted team and the Rose Bowl was theirs. Hopefully, the Bucks relearned the lesson that they have to do more than just show up. With this being Michigan week and the Bucks being so young, can't see how they can avoid getting all caught up in the hoopla about this being a big game.

Completely agree with your game plan and hopefully the dbacks are going to be ready for the screens and quick hitters that you know Michigan has to start out with.

What Sullinger and Thomas give up in height they make up for in physical.

OSU didn't lose the game to NC due to a lack of bigs last night they lost to cold shooting, Buford is one of the best pure shooters I've seen in years and last night I could have beat him playing horse. Even as cold as they were they almost stole the game in the final 2 minutes. Friday they showed up and played the way they can, Syracuse wasted NC for the win we should have had.

I don't think this is a trap game, this is Missagain.
These guys are what 1-6 in the B10, the last team in the B10 you take forgranted at OSU is this team. One man doesn't make a defense and Tate is on his way out, the only thing that keeps this from being ugly is a Tresselball nightmare.

Even though she didn't play ball her husband did, Stephanie Speilman is as much an icon as her husband in central Oh. Her loss will be felt by all of Buckeye Nation and I beleive they will honor her. This is close to my heart being a Lymphoma survivor, so please take a moment and say a prayer for a true Buckeye and a warrior.

I disagree completely on Duane's Buckeye basketball comments. Dallas Lauderdale is essentially a 7-footer the way he plays (much like Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado), and Evan Turner is rebounding like a man possessed. We outrebounded the much taller Tar Heels!

I think this season's Buckeyes have a better chance to make the Final Four than either of the past two seasons. I also think we are clearly the class of the Big Ten this year. GO BUCKS!
