2010 recruiting Updates for November

Have you thought about the situation with Seantrell Henderson from the coaching standpoint? Bollman will not be his coach. Does he know that? Is Bollman being his coach part of the decision, or does Bollman not being the offensive line coach have something to do with his interest in Ohio State? By the way, I know there is a story out there that people who know Henderson think he is leaning toward USC and point to his visiting Notre Dame and Ohio State for USC games as the reason they say that. What??? You are a person who knows Henderson but his visit schedule is how you figure out where he is leaning? When was he going to visit either school other than for the USC game??? Ridiculous. Dismiss that report. He may indeed pick USC but there "people who know Henderson" are anything but.

I don't know if you saw this but Mickey Andrews will not be back as DC at Florida State. Ask yourself this question. If your son, nephew, any kid that is coming to you for advice, would you tell him to get into all that uncertainty at Florida State just because it was closer? I have not heard anything but I would bet LaMarcus Joyner comes down to Ohio State and Notre Dame, not Florida State. He has shown himself to be a level headed kid. I bet he is concerned about what is going on with the Seminoles. Bowden is on shaky ground. Now the DC is leaving. I am concerned with teammate Brandon Lindner seeming to be enthralled with the Fightin' Irish.

A senior to watch late is Jayrone Elliott from Glenville. I saw a good bit of film of him recently. He is looking more like Jonathan Newsome. In fact, I think if we had a full boat of offers this year he would be odds on to get one. Looks great in his senior film. I don't think he can be a strong side end. Size was always an issue with him. If he could be a strong side end he would be odds on to get an offer anyway. I really hope Brian Kelly gets up there and makes an offer. I would hate to play against him for 4 years.

Speaking of Glenville, Christian Bryant and Shane Wynn will be Buckeyes. So will Latwan Anderson if his grades are in order. Both Bryant and Anderson have very very impressive senior films. Having 2 elite safety prospects in the same class really does my scarlet and gray bleeding heart alot of good.

Another senior just off the radar that is having a good year is Leveon Bell from Groveport. He is a big back that I was not impressed with coming off his junior year. Mark Porter nudged me a couple of times to give him a look again. I found he looks leaner and is showing better feet. Not a Buckeye caliber player but a clearly improved player.

Eric Franklin is having a great senior year for Mooney. He has cut what looks to be about 25 lbs off his frame. He is moving really well. He is playing so well that I would like to hear that the Buckeyes are in contact just as a fallback player. We need to add a couple of offensive linemen.

When I look at the offer to Shane Wynn I scratch my head wondering why we would offer him but not Andre Givens. Same kind of player but Givens is bigger and maybe faster.

Duane: Do you know if Jayrone Elliot is a qualifier? I thought I heard earlier in this year there were some questions about him being eligible for high school football.

Duane,
I am sorry to sound so pessimistic, but do you really believe Bolls will not be at OSU next year? I don't see JT firing Bolls.
Thanks

Duane's been pretty adamant that Bolls is gone after this year, either by retirement or moving up to an administrative position. I'm not entirely sold yet, but that's mostly because Tressel tends to make changes at a glacial pace. Here's hoping though.

He won't be fired. He will not be the OC or OL coach.

Haven't heard. but it makes sense that there are concerns considering his only offers are Michigan State and Indiana.
Mickey Andrews

Living in Atlanta, and seeing a lot of ACC football the last few years, it is more amazing that so many kids still want to go to FSU. Their defense has been very bad the last few years.(11-12 in the league this year). Joyner transfered from a Miami intercity school, so the college town atmosphere would apeall to him. Bowden hasn't coached that team for 10 years, so his involvement is pure window dressing

These reports on Henderson are ridiculous. I am not concerned at all about ND with Joyner. He is not going there. Guy I'm worried about is Shaw. A lot seem to think he stays with USC. From what I've read it doesn't sound like he has much interest in USC. Are these people predicting him to go to USC not hearing the same thing or do they think Shaw is just playing with the media. He does not seem like a kid that would do that and I think he means everything he says.
Poor FSU fans
written by pula, November 04, 2009
Those FSU fans that think that Jimbo Fisher is not part of problem are in for a rude awakening. The offense is at times very unimaginative. Other times it doesn't look like the offense is ready to play. This is not the sign of a good offensive football team. Good coordinators gets the best out of their players. Look at Coach Bradley for PSU, Fickell/Heacock for OSU, Alioti for Oregon, Will Muschamp for Texas, etc. There has been a general lack of institutional control as FSU even when they were winning. Losing makes it more of a big deal to the fan base. I look at FSU's talent and wonder why they are not competing. They will need to have good finish to make a bowl game this year. Lemarcus Joyner sounds like a good guy from his interviews, but if he goes to FSU I will not root for him. How can you go play for a university with such bad surrounding circumstances. I question the intelligence of any player that goes to FSU. That those in charge have failed to make any substantive changes only shows me that this is the culture at FSU.

I'm not convinced Coach Bollman will even be reassigned. 5 years of bad OL play is justification enough to fire him. Sticking with him nearly a decade shows a disregard for the best interest of your football team. Coach Tressel is as stubborn as Eric Mangini, and that is why he IS failing. Coach Tressel talks about accountability. Who else is there to blame for nearly a decade of offensive woes. If he values The Ohio State University over his own foolish pride, he will hand over the keys. I give Coach Paterno credit for realizing that PSU had to reinvent their offensive scheme. He brought guys in that will make that team go. Coach Tressel is wrong to say that he will have no role in the offense. Ultimately, the HC makes the decisions on offense. Do we go for it on 4th down or do we kick the FG? Do we run a trick play? Do we pull this player or that player? Do we challenge this play? Does my team need a timeout?

Ultimately, Coach Tressel IMO takes on too much responsibility. I have seen decline in game planning, preparation, focus (penalties), and management of the game that I feel is directly related to being to much involved in the offense. Coach Tressel need not worry because at Ohio State there is plenty of hats that a HC needs to wear.

The worry for me is that he has not filled that last official visit slot. I am concerned that all of this could be about him going around and taking visits, seeing great games, getting shots at the best looking chicks on each campus. If a USC caliber kid sets up a USC visit alot of schools are not going to give him that opportunity.

The Shaw thing is crazy to me. It seems like earlier we were thinking 'when', not 'if'. Now we're wondering if we're being played. Just bizarre.

Re: Shaw, JT, Pryor, etc.

Too much hysteria ... teams have up years and down years, no coach is perfect, some good players go elsewhere. The message boards have been ridiculous.

If OSU ended up w/ Joyner (small, but a phenomenal football player, all you had to watch whas Aquinas vs Byrnes SC), Bryant, and Anderson that would be a great haul. No one kid makes or breaks a class, let alone a program.
