Jamel Turner
Written by Duane Long

This is not going to be a long one today. There is not alot to say. I have multiple sources telling me that the end is near for Jamel Turner, if it is not already a done deal. I do not see him in a Buckeye uniform. In fact, he has so much work to do in the classroom as well as other off the field issues so daunting that he may never play college football. I have seen some talents not make it but I have to put Turner never playing college football up there with Antwon Hight and Chuck Jones as the biggest tragedies that I have witnessed in my time doing this.

Mr. Bucknuts wrote about his not too long ago and a lot of people questioned his claim. Now that you are also reporting this, that is 2 websites. I continue to hope that this isn't the case, but I am expecting the worst. I can not understand how someone can have enough talent to get a scholarship from a major university to play football yet will not do the work to attend.

I don't know about that. Buckeye fans need to keep a good thought. If this kid makes it it will be a story that I hope he will one day feel comfortable telling. If he makes it anywhere, feel good for him. It is a kid overcoming a tough set of circumstances. It will be the story of a kid turning his life around.

Apparently many people are in the loop about what on earth Jamal did. It must have been very very bad! Could someone tell me the whole story? Duane?

This isn't old news just now getting out. Jamel was allegedly on probation. One more screw up and he'd lose his scholly. The rumor is(with a lot of smoke) he got in another serious fight and he's done. He also hasn't been attending class.

There are enough Div-1 schools that will offer him. Hell Randy Moss went to Marshall after ND AND Fla St. wouldn't(for Bobby Bowden to turn down anyone at that point in his coaching is amazing) The LB from Fla that had 2 felonies on his record(Willie somebody) He got accepted at Miami and screwed that up. Watch where he ends up, and this will tell you volumes about the school and even the conference.
That's Too Bad

Sorry to hear about Jamel. Hopefully he can get it together and be productive somewhere.

Some of the other offers I've seen make more sense now.

He does not have the grades. No matter what else he does not have the grades to go anywhere.

Incredibly disappointing. Hopefully he can turn it around. Very unfortunate.

Lets just hope he gets into a situation that he can get his life turned around football or no football.

Whats up with this article?

I say stay tuned. I have been very careful with this. I am sure of my sources.

Thanks for responding. I am curious as to whom the vindy's source is. I hope he makes it to OSU, although I think I believe your prognosis at this point. Keep up the good work.

The article doesn't actually make Duane and a few others predictions invalid.

It kind of depends on what questions the Vindy asked their source.

Is turner just a bad kid or a kid in the wrong place wrong time.

This is what I want to know. Is the problem Jamel Turner or is the problem that he is in Younstown. It seems odd to me that all of the sudden Jamel would be having problems. Usually, trouble does not appear out of nowhere.

It would be great if he is able to rebound and make it out to OSU.
Wake Up!

HA! This is interesting.
If you guys think that this kid won't go elsewhere, then you just aren't paying attention.

This kid is a Rivals100 player. Someone else will offer and give him a chance.

I hope that he still comes to tOSU and has the chance to fix this mess and change his behavior. Remember these are kids 17 or 18 years old.

Should Tressel et. al. decide to cut bait, don't worry you could likely end up playing against this kid and he will remember this situation.

Let's go Turner, get it together little brother. This team needs you and you need tOSU.
