Now that I have recovered from the shocking news that Urban Meyer has resigned, my thoughts go to the Buckeyes. I doubt any program outside of Florida itself is more impacted by this decision than the Buckeyes.
We have always heard about Texas with Jordan Hicks. My own sources say that Florida is the team the Buckeyes were most likely to lose Shaw to. Charlie Strong leaves, now Meyer leaves. Don't tell me this kid is still going to Florida. If he was that committed to Florida that
the head coach and the DC leaving would not effect his decision, he would have committed long ago.
The consensus is, or should I say was, that Florida was the school most likely to keep the Buckeyes from landing Floyd. Now not only the head coach but also the DC have left the program since he visited. Josh Shaw said the Buckeyes finished #2. Both have taken four visits. That needs to be mentioned.
I like where that puts us with Floyd and I have to like where it puts us with Shaw. He committed after four visits. He did not feel compelled to take a fifth. What has happened between then and now that would make him want to take a fifth visit? No school warranted a visit despite the fact that he had one to spare before his verbal. It seems to me that Shaw calling the Buckeyes and committing is quite logical.
Matt Elam is really in a situation. He has taken all his visits. He did not visit here but there was always this thing out there that Elams brother, a Cleveland Brown, wanted him to visit Ohio State. With his brother in Cleveland, an unofficial visit could be easily arranged.
What about Jaylen Watkins. A really special athlete. I know the Buckeyes wanted him badly. He committed without taking any other visits so he might be a kid with a love for Florida moreso than Meyer. I would still give him a call and see if he is interested in coming up and taking a look around.
One national guy said Florida led for Seantrell Henderson. I would be interested to see what he says now. Henderson has taken four of his five visits.
Florida State has to like seeing all this Florida born talent in such disarray. They have shown some reason to believe it may be a good recruiting staff by getting Jeff Luc and LaMarcus Joyner.
