Back to football and a recruiting note

It is game week. Not to mention I have to get back to posting daily and stopping in several times a day as there are mischief makers out there that can't be allowed to get away with controlling the flow of information.

I want to touch on something that gives you some insight into just how important recruiting close to home is. Just how basic it is but how important. If you are not aware of the Cordale Scott situation, he has left Illinois and transferred to Toledo. For those that don't remember, he was the big athlete from Glenville who is the only Glenville player in the Tressel era to have a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes and chose to go elsewhere. I am going to go out on a limb and based on his current situation I bet he would make a different decision today. One of the etched in stone rules of recruiting is, recruiting is local. Most players come from instate. The vast majority of the players on any roster in the country come from that region. Players see schools in their region more. They see them on television. They may have been to games at some of those schools but the one thing that gets overlooked is close to home is just that. Close to home. There is that connection to family and firends just a couple of hours away. When things are tough, the kid is not playing, he is beat up, the playbook might as well be Einsteins theory of Relativity, and his girl is complaining about the problems of a long distance relationship, he can just drive home. That basic. That simple. When things went badly for Scott he had to change schools. Glenville kids don't transfer, even ones not playing alot. They know they can just drive home for the day.

So little is coming out about practice. JT has really shut it down. A contact is telling me that practice have been "very intense and very physical." He is a current player at another school who has friends on the current roster. He said his friends were really surprised at how hard they are going. That tells me that JT is going to get after it. He is going to bring his team in sharp and focused.

Hmmmm....your contact is "a current player at another school who has friends on the current roster." What the heck, is it Cordale Scott??? Always glad to hear the Buckeyes are zoned in and focused. I'm liking our chances in Pasadena more and more the closer we get to Jan. 1.
JT Needs To Go

Count me among the skeptics when it comes to Jim Tressel knowing how to prepare the Bucks for the Big Game.
I still can't get it out of my mind that Ohio State almost lost the Michigan game because Tressel wouldn't unleash any big guns on the offensive side of the ball.
His complete aversion to throwing in a few offensive tricks in for good measure - and his abject unwillingness to take full advantage of Terrelle Pryor's full potential but running an option offense - has been a real downer this year.
Hopefully we can overcome Oregon and some of the undefeated are crushed in their bowl games - but let's never forget that Tressel's style of play hurt us this season. In my humble opinion, he needs to go.

Duane...what do you think about this entire thing, obviously if it's health related I feel for his family. But life goes on; how do you think this affects guys were were battling with UF for? Shaw? Henderson? others?

How much of an effect was he on all the recruiting?

Thanks

JT and OSU have no other choice than to 'get after it'. Oregon will run the no huddle until OSU proves it can shut it down. Think back to the 3rd quarter of last years' Fiesta Bowl and then think about playing 4 qtrs like that. Oregon will try to run 80 plays and JT 50..we'll see what strategy is best and I say the key to the game is how good of shape the DL is in. Because Oregon will play no huddle fast..JT will run the play clock down to zero and run 80% of the time to rest the defense. Anyone expecting anything else will be disappointed.

When you stick to recruiting and your home state - there is no better out there.
Duane - stick to what you do best and steer away from the he said / she said crowd. Too much speculation and gossip out there.
Your opinion focused on OSU recruiting and football is your craft -
